Does the RaspTank motor hat have to be installed on the Raspberry Pi when the software is installed on the Raspberry Pi?

Not necessarily, but it would be safer so that it does not overheat. Also, do NOT install the software or OS while under battery power!!!!

Are you saying it would be better to have the hat OFF the pi so that the Pi and the hat don't overheat?
